The Food Safety Team at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) approached VAKA to create an interactive experience to teach primary school children about food safety. The goal? The content needed to be both highly engaging and to deliver educational outcomes for Year 3 students. The cherry on top? The project was to be deployed in English speaking public schools and Kura Kaupapa, and thus needed to be created in both English and Te Reo Māori.
We were excited to tackle this project and demonstrate the capability of our technology to be used in education. The result? We produced a multi screen video interactive with visual effects, available in both English and Te Reo Maori. Because the Māori aunty character was already familiar to our audience of primary school students, she was featured in the video to teach them about food safety principles. Through a fun and engaging approach, she interacted with students and invited them to participate in activities to instil their learnings about food safety. The best bit? The children were on the edge of their seats the entire time and were vying for an encore.
